Risk Assessment

It is essential before filming begins that a risk assessment is conducted to ensure the proper safety and welfare of actors and the camera crew around the equipment, and also to ensure that there are no hazards for passers by that could cause injury.

One of the main hazards in the process of our filming is a trip hazard with the tripod legs and feet. If anyone was to trip over one of the tripod legs they may become injured and therefore to prevent this from occurring, anyone walking around where we were filming was warned by us that we were recording and to be aware of the hazards around them. Another hazard that can occur with the tripod is pinching of the finger in the leg lock and leavers that allow you to construct the tripod. To overcome this hazard, we took extra care when constructing the apparatus to avoid injury.

Also when we were filming in the dark, we had to be aware of our surroundings as injury could be caused by bumping into objects that could not be seen in the dark lighting and tripping over table legs whilst walking around the set. this hazard was overcome by conduction a dress rehearsal whilst the light was on so we were sure of our surroundings and were hazards were.
